Sculptures tour around Reykjavík
The highlights of Ásmundur Sveinsson and Sigurjón Ólafsson

Start of tour at Harpa

 

We drive along the north coast of Reykjavík.
Our first stop is at Höfði where we will take a look at two sculptures, one by Sigurjón Ólafsson, Öndvegissúlur and the other is a statue of one of our great poems, Einar Benediktsson made by Ásmundur Sveinsson. On we go to the Museum of Sigurjón Ólafson at Laugarnestangi ( this is also the only place on the northen side of Reykjavík with a natureal shore). Outside the museum are several works by Sigurjón. We will take a look at those.

On we go to see some reliefs by Sigurjón on a large building close to Sæbraut.
Next stop is the museum of Ásmundur Sveinsson in  Laugardalur at Sigtún. In the garden at the house are many works made of the artist. We take a look at them.
From Sigtún we go to the old scool of seamen. In front of the scool is the work "fiskistöflun" by Sigurjón, a work he made in Copenhagen.
On we go to Kjarvalsstaði, in front of the museum is a work by Sigurjón made in memorial of the painter Nína Tryggvadóttir.

 

From Kjarvalsstaðir, we go the western part of Reykjavík and take a look at some more sculptures.

The tour starts at 14:00 from Harpa, pick up 13:45
